I've always thought that the equestrian riding apparel is rather sexy, don't you think? There's something about the tight pants, and the boots, and that silly hat that I associate with royalty. They all ride horses or play polo. I was checking that link and they even have some stuff for dogs. Since I don't have a horse, maybe I should get one of those fancy collars for my dogs. They're not that expensive either.
Speaking of horses, did you know that they are the most abused domestic animals? In Puerto Rico, people treat these animals like if they were a car. They wash, and shine them, and care for them...except they don't hit or kick their cars to make them run, right? But they do this with their horses. When they get injured, they are abandoned anywhere. Saturdays are the worst days. You can hear dozens of horses riding down the street behind my house, and their drunk owners yelling and hitting them to make them go faster. It is disgusting.
I've seen very few horses here in the Dominican Republic, and the ones I've seen work pulling carts full of plantains or some other fruit. It's sad, really. They are so skinny you can count their ribs. I suppose they work all day and maybe eat once a day whatever their owners give them. I'm sure they are not able to roam freely and they probably spend all their lives chained up. Poor things, it break my heart.
I wish I could make a difference.
...and the "Shelter Stories" make me a little sad.
