Yesterday I wrote the Addictions post...

Last night I was hanging out with some locals and I wondered how many of them have addiction problems too.  I overheard some of them talking about coke, so I realized no one is exempt from the possibility of doing drugs.

Then I wondered about what kind of drug treatment is available for addicts in the Dominican Republic?  If treatment centers (if there are any) are as "good" as hospitals here are, then I don't think there's any hope for them.  Excuse me if I'm wrong.

There's somebody very close to me who is right now in rehab in Puerto Rico.  This person has struggled for quite some time with different addictions.  After some time, that person decided it was enough and that some kind of addiction treatment was needed.  A few months have passed since that decision was made, and I have noticed this person is really trying and so far has been successful.  Of course, there are always some minor setbacks as nothing is perfect, but so far so good.  I can't help but wonder if the treatment that person is receiving is the best available.  I really don't think so.  When life hands you lemons, you are supposed to make lemonade right?  I think that as long as that person is committed, everything is possible.
