I just registered on ZooToo.com. It's like the Facebook for pets lovers. I'm so loving it there! Everything you do on ZooToo not only helps pet owners but helps shelters and rescue groups as well! As you use the site, the activity gets translated into points. Those points accumulate and you will be able to dedicate those points to various cases. When I registered, I had to choose the shelter and rescue group of my choice. I didn't think that they would have available Puerto Rican organizations, but they did! In my side of the Island, too! Yes, I am excited. It would be awesome if the shelter I chose would win The ZooToo House Shelter Makeover (a contest where the winner gets a million dollar makeover).
Last night I had an episode of insomnia. I don't know if it was the two cups of coffee I had yesterday during the afternoon or the three glasses of Kola Real (the Dominican Coca Cola) I drank before going to bed. Or maybe it's just depression creeping back in. So it was 3:30 AM. No one was updating their Vox, and no one was online on the messenger thing. So, what did I do? I started linking from one person's blog to another and so on and so on. I came across some extremely interesting stuff. I was up until 6:00 AM reading and reading and reading.
On this blog I found out about Grains of Gratitude. It's basically a meme and all you have to do is list five things you're grateful for every Sunday. I think I'm going to do it. Sometimes it feels like all the negative stuff in my life takes over the positive stuff which I'm sure must exist, it's just that I don't pay much attention to it. No wonder I'm always so sad. So maybe this would be a great idea to help me focus. I want to change it's name though. Grains of Gratitude sounds too grown up. LOL.
Also, I was reading BULLETPROOFsoul's Vox and it linked me to her dog Coby's blog. Man, Coby's stories made me smile more than once. So, from this wonderful dog's blog I found out about Furry Fridays which is something I'm definitely doing when I get back home. It's all about posting a picture of your furry friend every Friday. I have many furry friends so it'll be cool.
I keep finding ways to keep myself busy. Hey, I don't want to drown in my own misery. I'm trying to keep myself afloat.
My pets. Or the animals that live at my house in Puerto Rico.
Kiri. He was born in June 1995. He was a gift to my sister from her [then] boyfriend. About a year later she moved with my father and left him with me. He's always been my baby. His real name is Barquilla (ask my sister!) but I nicknamed him Kiri so long ago, that's how everybody calls him now.
Draco. Draco is 2-3 years old, I can't remember. He was born in my house. He is a very mellow cat, but he's a bum. He doesn't like to be inside and sometimes disappears for days. We worry about him but then a few days later he's back with his regal poise and his soft meowing. For like 2 months, he was getting home with huge gaps on his neck. You could see the insides of his neck literally. My mother, the healer, patiently took care of him. We had to cure his wounds daily and it was a pain that he would always find the way to take the gauze off and scratch himself sending back whatever little progress we had made. That's when my mother came with the idea you see in the picture. I'm sure he wasn't happy but it worked out. All he has now are the scars. We never really knew how he hurt himself.
Mila. It's extremely hard to take pictures of Mila. She's never quiet. Why? When she was less than 3 months old my mother accidentally crushed her head with a gate. She survived, but she's a special needs cats. The vet diagnosed she would always have neurological problems. She's the same age as Draco (they're brother and sister) and she just recently learned how to jump from the floor to lets say a chair (check the picture). She's taking it very slow. The way she walks, the way she looks at you, the way she reacts to the environment around her makes it obvious she is not an average cat. Sometimes it's funny, other times she drives me mad. She has the habit of getting in the middle of everything. She may be special but she's not dumb! Ever since she was spayed she's gotten huge!
Panda. Ahh this is Panda. Poor little Panda. She's Mila's kitty although she never really knew how to take care of her. Panda was born with a hernia, so she never really developed normally. Physically I mean. She's the size of maybe a 3 month-old kitten but she's a year old already. She's sweet and quiet and the weirdest thing is, this cat is not curious at all! I think it's because Mila never taught her anything, she is still learning by herself. She never goes away and she likes to steal Kiri's pillow and sleep on it. Kiri doesn't like it one bit, but hey, he's a gentleman.
The bunnies. They're dwarf bunnies, very small. The white, Bustelo, is the male and a real menace! Actually, we're a little worried because he's even biting. And he has Bunny, the female, under constant attack! He is very aggressive. Pulling her hairs off and everything. Maybe he's ready to mate? I love those black lines around his eyes. He has natural eye liner! A goth rabbit. Bunny is more quiet. Ever since we separated them her hair is growing back nicely. She is bigger than Bustelo, but a total wimp. With her size, she could send that bully to hell!
As Jesus entered a certain village he saw a young a cat which had no one to care for her, and she was hungry and cried unto him, and he took her up, and put her inside his garment, and she lay in his bosom. And when he came into the village he set food and drink before the cat, and she ate and drank, and showed thanks unto Him. And he gave her unto one of his disciples who was a widow, whose name was Lorenza, and she took care of her. And some of the people said: "This man careth for all creatures...are they his brothers and sisters that he should love them?" And he said unto them, "Verily yea, they are your brothers and sisters, having the same breath of life in the Eternal. And whosoever careth for one of the least of these, and giveth it to eat and drink of its need, the same doeth it unto me; and who so willingly suffereth one of these to be in want, and defendeth it not when evilly treated, suffereth the evil as done unto me."
